Microsoft recently updated its support documents and announced that it would extend its support cycle to 6 years for Surface PC products released on January 1, 2021.
Naijatechnews reported in September this year that while Microsoft was launching new products such as Surface Laptop Studio 2, Surface Laptop Go 3 and Surface Go 4, it also announced a new policy on Surface device firmware and driver updates.
Microsoft said that in order to help IT administrators better manage Surface devices, it will extend driver and firmware support for Surface devices to 6 years after the product is officially launched, which is currently 4 years.
Previously, the update content was limited to new Surface products, but Microsoft has expanded the scope of application this time. Any Surface PC shipped after January 1, 2021 will receive six years of firmware updates.

For devices released before January 1, 2021: Surface devices will receive driver and firmware updates for at least four years from when the device was first released. If support lasts longer than four years, an updated end-of-service date will be published prior to the last service date.

For devices released on or after January 1, 2021: Surface devices will receive driver and firmware updates for at least six years from when the device was first released. If support lasts longer than six years, an updated service end date will be published prior to the last service date.
This means that Surface Pro 7+, Surface Go 3, Surface Laptop 4, Surface Laptop Go 2, Surface Studio 2+, and Surface Laptop Studio 1 will all get an additional 2 years, and the support period will be extended to 6 years.
