Google is gearing up to introduce a new privacy feature called ‘Private Space’ for the Android 15 update, similar to Samsung’s Secure Folder. This feature will be available on Google Pixel phones, which provides a secure space to install and manage apps separately from their main profile.
According to information via AndroidAuthority, the development of the Private Space feature is underway and the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.1 reveals more about its functionality and setup. The feature aims to protect user privacy by allowing a separate profile that is locked and can be hidden.

During the setup, users are informed that the Google Play Store comes pre-installed in the Private Space and the private profile cannot be transferred to another device. Users are also warned that connecting to a PC or downloading harmful apps could potentially compromise their private space.
To further secure their private space data, users are advised to create a new Google Account. This helps prevent personal data like photos, emails, and browsing history from leaking outside a secure profile.
Users can use their existing screen lock or create a new one, including a PIN, pattern, password, or fingerprint, to access their Private Space. The settings for Private Space allow users to control when it locks automatically, change the screen lock, hide the profile from the app list, manage notification visibility, and even delete the profile if needed.
While Samsung’s Secure Folder feature for Google phones is not yet live in the current developer previews, it’s expected to launch in the stable release of Android 15 later this year.
