UK student visa requirements
- Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

To study in the UK, you need to prove that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in the UK.
You can use a bank statement in the last 6 months to show as proof that you have enough money to pay for your tuition and living expenses, and also support yourself as a student while you’re in the UK.
If you are been sponsored by someone else, maybe your parents, a family member, or guardian, you can use their bank statement in the last 6 months or rather, you can get your financial sponsor to send the funds into your bank account which you can use as proof of funds.
Your sponsor will also have to write a letter stating that they are sponsoring you and they will take financial responsibility during your study in the UK.
For applicants who are on scholarship or funding, you can use your scholarship or funding letter as proof of means of financial support.
Your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) would be your offer of admission letter issued by an accredited UK university that you would be undergoing your program.
You need to show that you have enough money to pay for your tuition for at least 1 year if you’re program runs for more than one year.
You also need to have between £1, 023 – £1, 334 per month for up to one year (£12,276 – £16,008) to cover for your living expenses as a student for courses and programs inside and outside of London respectively.
If you are travelling with your child or spouse to the UK during the course of your program, you will also need to proof that you can take financial responsibility for any of your dependant(s).
UK Student Visa processing time
For UK student visas, the average processing and waiting time is usually 3 weeks or 21 days for applicants applying outside of the UK and 8 weeks or 56 days for applicants applying to extend or switch to a student visa from inside the UK.
However, it may take longer in some cases. You should be able to get a decision on your visa application if you’ve submitted and paid your visa application fee, and also done a visa interview at a visa application centre.
After your program and studies, you may be able to stay in the UK much longer with a Graduate visa. With a Graduate visa, you can work in the UK for at least 2 years after your graduation.
