Huawei Mate 50 Pro and MatePad SE come to Singapore
Huawei today (9 November 2022) announced the Singapore availability of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro and MatePad SE.
We’ve covered the Mate 50 series during its September global debut, but here’s the quick down-low on what to expect from Huawei’s latest handset.
Huawei Mate 50 Pro
The Huawei device packs altered components to adhere with U.S. sanctions. The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 4G connectivity. Instead of Corning’s glass type, it uses Kunlun Glass for its 6.74-inch OLED panel. Its brand-new EMUI 13 OS skin is based on an unknown, forked Android version. Like its predecessor, it relies on Huawei Mobile Services and AppGallery for functionality and apps, while it lacks Google Mobile Services or Google’s Play Store out of the box.
Sanctions aside, Huawei Mate 50 Pro still touts cutting-edge imaging chops with its triple rear camera combo. It’s led by a 50MP “Ultra Aperture XMAGE” camera that offers an auto-adjusting physical aperture starting at f/1.4, and features like OIS, RYYB sensor and three XMAGE shooting styles (Original, Vivid, Bright).
Other accompanying cameras are a 13MP ultra-wide-angle and 64MP telephoto that offers 200x zoom range.
As a flagship-tier device, it has IP68-rated waterproofing, a 120Hz refresh rate OLED display with 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and 300Hz touch sampling rate, a 4,700mAh battery with 66W Huawei SuperCharge and 50W Wireless Huawei SuperCharge, and two physical SIM card slots.

Huawei MatePad SE
Also coming to Singapore is Huawei’s entertainment-focused tablet, the Huawei MatePad SE.
The tablet has a 10.4-inch LCD panel rated at FHD+ resolution (2,000 x 1,200 pixels) with an 83.6% screen-to-body ratio on the front. The display is further rated with TÜV Rheinland’s Low Blue Light and Flicker-free certifications.
Built into the tablet are two speakers with human voice algorithms that enhance speech in your entertainment content.
MatePad SE runs on HarmonyOS 3, and like other mobile products by Huawei, uses AppGallery for its app library and app store. Additional features suited for tablet use include Multi-Window, Service Widgets, and an improved App Multiplier that supports four apps (instead of the old two-app configuration).
Powering it all is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor, and a 5,100mAh battery with 10W charging. The tablet is Wi-Fi only with support for Bluetooth 5.0.
Huawei MatePad SE retails at S$298 (4GB RAM, 128GB storage) from 26 November 2022 onwards. Between 26 November and 31 December 2022, buyers of the MatePad SE at Huawei Experience Stores, Authorised Stores, participating retailers, as well as the official Lazada and Shopee platforms can get a free, unspecified Bluetooth Speaker while stocks last.
