Samsung officially released the Galaxy S24 series of mobile phones at the Galaxy Unpacked conference held today. There are three models in this series, the Galaxy S24 starts at $799.99, the Galaxy S24 Plus starts at $999.99, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra starts at $1,299.99.
In addition to the debut of the three models, the most important point is that Samsung announced that all three models will support 7 years of system updates, which is 3 years longer than the existing Galaxy flagship and mid-range models.
As early as 2021, Samsung proposed the policy of “extending mobile phone software update life”. Samsung mobile phones launched after 2019 will receive 3 generations of Android operating system upgrades and 4 years of security update services. This policy is not flagship-level. Exclusive, but covering Z, S, Note, A, M, XCover and Tab series, allowing many old models to still experience the latest system after being used for several years.
At last year’s Galaxy S23 series mobile phone launch, Samsung announced that it would provide 4 generations of operating system upgrades and 5 years of security updates for the S23 series.
On the Galaxy S24 series of mobile phones released today, Samsung promises to provide 7 years of operating system upgrades and 7 years of security updates for the S24 series. When the Galaxy S24 series of mobile phones are shipped from the factory with Android 14 system, it means that they can be upgraded to Android 21 .
Update: Samsung says that 7 years of Android versions and security updates starts with the Galaxy S24 series and does not apply to previous models such as the Galaxy S23.
