U.S. app developer Blix Zhou unanimously lettered EU Antitrust Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, saying that there is unfair competition in the Apple App Store, and he hopes that the EU will launch an in-depth
services.
Blix’s complaint comes at the time when Vestag launched an investigation into Apple’s App Store and mobile payment system Apple Pay. Currently, the Apple App Store is facing strong opposition from some application developers. They said that the 30% of the Apple App Store’s commission and some other policies are unfair and are designed to benefit their own services.
In December last year, Blix sued Apple in the United States, claiming that there is evidence that Apple has a preference for its own applications , which is not conducive to the development of similar third-party applications in the App Store. For example, Apple has implemented a monopoly on the App Store to crack down on third-party applications that compete with Apple Mail.
Today, Blix founder Ben Volach (Ben Volach) wrote in a letter to EU Antitrust Commissioner Vestag: “We see very clearly that Apple is engaged in unfair competition.”
“By writing this letter, we want to expose an illusion created by Apple. The App Store is not a level playing field; when developers compete with Apple’s own apps, they (developers) are not treated equally. Our own experience Prove this.”
Volach hopes that Vestager can investigate Apple’s behavior more deeply. Before the end of this year, Westerger will announce a new and stricter regulation, the Digital Services Act, which aims to ensure that technology giants such as Apple can compete fairly.
Volach also said: “Apple’s actions conceal its intention to completely control this important market and distribution channel ambitions in order to maintain the dominant position of its applications.”
Recently, American social media giants Facebook and Microsoft have also expressed concerns about some regulations of Apple’s App Store, and the European Commission said that they are aware of related matters.
Earlier this month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) said that Apple has “unilateral control” over the App Store, so the platform should be regulated.
