News reported on November 14, that the development cycle for the next Ubuntu Linux release, Ubuntu 23.04, has officially started, and the Ubuntu team has announced the official release date and full release schedule, including all the details you need to know.

Ubuntu 23.04, dubbed “Lunar Lobster” by Canonical, is expected to be released on April 20, 2023. This will be Canonical’s 38th Ubuntu release, a so-called interim release that will only support software and security updates for nine months until January 2024.

The 6-month development cycle officially kicks off at the end of October 2024 with the upload of the toolchain, and the first Ubuntu testing week will start as soon as next December 29th.

According to the release schedule, Ubuntu 23.04 Beta will be available for public testing on March 30, 2023, shortly after the second “Ubuntu Testing Week” event in the first week of March next year.
